// About the label

A small company
that takes records
seriously.

Nomad Records is the product line of Nomad Digital Technologies Ltd, a UK-registered company (15602781) headquartered in London with a second listening room in Berlin. The team is split between audio engineering, rights operations, and A&R — and the company was deliberately structured around all three sitting in the same room.

What we are, in one paragraph

Nomad Digital Technologies Ltd is a music-intelligence platform built for the working part of the music business. We build three engines — Nomad Listen, Nomad Rights, Nomad A&R — that share an audio-first foundation. We work with labels, publishers, managers, and neighbouring-rights specialists. We are not a streaming platform, a record label in the traditional sense, or a music-discovery social network. We are an infrastructure company for the people who already do the music business well and want a platform that helps them do it better.

// Origin

Where this came from.

Nomad was started in early 2024 by a small group that had worked across audio research, royalty administration and A&R for the prior decade — at major-label engineering teams, at a continental neighbouring-rights agency, and at two independent labels. The shared frustration was that the music business has world-class infrastructure for distribution and almost no infrastructure for listening. The systems that decide what gets played, paid, and signed run on metadata that no one trusts, dashboards that no one acts on, and a quarterly cadence that nothing about the modern audience matches.

The company was incorporated in May 2024 in London. The first product, Nomad Listen, went into pilot with two indie labels in October. By mid-2025 the rights pipeline was live; by late 2025 the A&R embedding was in calibration. The company is now working with twelve labels, four publishers, two neighbouring-rights specialists, and a small number of management firms across the UK, Germany, France and the US.

// Team shape

How the team is structured.

Audio Engineering (~8)

Built and maintains Nomad Listen. Backgrounds in audio research, MIR, music production. The team that decides what the four detectors look like and how the agreement rule moves.

Rights Operations (~6)

Builds and operates Nomad Rights. Backgrounds in royalty administration, publishing, and continental neighbouring rights. Includes two qualified accountants because reconciliation is closer to financial audit than to data analytics.

A&R Engineering (~4)

Builds and operates Nomad A&R. Backgrounds in working A&R — they've each signed acts somewhere before. The embedding work is informed by the day-job perspective on what A&R actually does.

Platform & Partner (~4)

Engineering on the underlying graph, on the partner APIs, on the data pipelines and on the partner-onboarding experience. The infrastructure team that lets the other three sit on the same foundation.

// Operating principles

Three things we won't do.

A

We won't sign artists.

Nomad is not a label in the discovery-and-signings sense. We provide intelligence to labels and managers who do that work; we don't compete with them for the artists they're scouting. The conflict-of-interest framing would invalidate the A&R embedding as soon as we started — we'd be optimising for ourselves rather than for the team we're built for.

B

We won't run ads on partner data.

Catalogue data shared with Nomad is treated as confidential. We don't aggregate it across partners for commercial sale; we don't show it to other partners; we don't use it to train cross-partner models without explicit consent. The aggregate research we publish is anonymised at a level where no single partner is identifiable.

C

We won't optimise for engagement.

Nothing about Nomad is designed to maximise time spent on a dashboard. The whole product is engineered against minimum-viable-action surfaces: surface the claim, surface the candidate, surface the leak — and then get out of the team's way. A platform that "keeps users engaged" is a platform that hasn't decided what it's actually for.
